How Claude Code works: reading files, writing code and executing commands on your behalf.
One engine, many surfaces: how the CLI, IDE extensions and the web share the same underlying agent.

The VS Code extension: visual diffs, plan review and beginner-friendly onboarding
The terminal CLI: keyboar.d-driven workflows, lightweight operation and early access to new features.
Claude Code on the web: cloud-based sessions, GitHub repository access and zero local setup.
Choosing the right surface for the task, the environment and your experience level.

Environment setup and first steps
Installing and authenticating the Claude Code extension in Visual Studio Code.
Installing and running the Claude Code CLI in the terminal (including Git Bash on Windows).
Navigating the interface: prompts, slash commands, diffs and session history.
Running your first tasks: explaining code, making a small change and reviewing the result.

Writing the CLAUDE.md file: defining your stack, standards and security rules once.

Building a LAMP application end to end
Translating a project brief into a structured development plan with Claude Code.

Applying security fundamentals: PDO, prepared statements and input validation in AI-generated code.
