Why are Creative Jobs Important in 2025? image

Why are Creative Jobs Important in 2025?

With the rise of AI, is it still worth pursuing a creative career in 2025? We asked a successful writer for their advice on how to land a creative job.

Introduction

2025 seems to be the year of AI, social media platforms are flooded with posts telling people that creative jobs are becoming obsolete with the rise of AI.

The good news is, that isn’t necessarily true!

Whilst AI has many uses, and is definitely a huge technological step forward. There is still a lot that it can’t replicate.

In this article I speak with Rosie Fiore-Burt, a critically acclaimed author, successful copywriter and journalist about why creative jobs are still important in 2025, despite the rise of AI. Rosie shares the impact that AI has on creative fields, the availability of creative jobs, and her top tips for landing a creative role.

A Q&A with a Creative:

1. How Does AI Impact Creative Fields?

'For people like me,' says Rosie, 'who make some of our income from royalties, the rise of AI has been profoundly worrying.'

Currently, the government is trying to pass a law which would force creatives to opt out from their material being utilised in AI training. Whilst this is a step in the right direction, Rosie believes that this still puts pressure on creatives, 'this puts the onus on individual creators to protect their work from being harvested to train a model which may replace them.'

Rosie also credits groups that are here to protect the sanctity of creativity, 'unions like the Society of Authors and other creative bodies led a drive for creatives to object to this law, and we are hoping it will have an impact.'

2. Are Creative Jobs Still Available Despite AI?

Rosie says that 'creativity is like a muscle' and believes that the muscle needs to be worked in order for it to be strong. Whilst the use of AI in creative fields is leaving creative jobs 'increasingly devalued', using AI for creative purposes means that 'we will quickly lose the faculties to make and recognise work that is unique, surprising, and human' says Rosie.

So, if AI is making you nervous about creative jobs, don’t forget that the human element is irreplaceable!

3. Do You Need a Degree to Land a Creative Role?

'No, this has never been the case!' says Rosie.

According to Rosie, what you need is:

  1. Curiosity
  2. Drive
  3. A portfolio

If you don’t have experience in the field you want to go into, make some example work to show what you’re capable of!

4. What Are Your Top Tips For Creatives Looking to Land a Role This Year?

  1. Be hungry
  2. Overdeliver
  3. Do work that is surprising
  4. Be 100% reliable
  5. Be pleasant to work with

Rosie Fiore-Burt has given some wonderful insights into succeeding in a creative field, if you want more of Rosie’s knowledge, she teaches a plethora of writing courses at our centre!

Conclusion

So, hope is not lost for those looking to pursue a creative career in 2025, AI has not taken over the world of creativity, and there are plenty of ways to get into the creative career you’ve been dreaming of!

The key takeaways from Rosie Fiore-Burt are:

  1. AI isn’t human, it can’t truly replace artists!
  2. Stay curious and creative!
  3. Be hungry!
  4. Give 100% at all times!
